Denise Durkin
Artist information (From Inverlochy Art School tutor profile) Practising artist Denise Durkin brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her drawing and painting students and has been a valued tutor contributing to the school since 2001. She holds a Diploma in Visual Communication Design from Wellington Polytechnic Design School where she majored in illustration. She began her career in graphic design and has grown a substantial portfolio as an illustrator working on a range of projects in watercolour which includes children's picture books, educational publishing, postage stamps and feature food articles. The 15+ years at Inverlochy has seen a change in career focus to fine arts, with an increase in her dedication to building her understanding and skills in drawing, painting and printmaking. With a strong focus on the figure Denise exhibits her work regularly and has been accepted into the Molly Morpeth Canaday Art Award 2014, 2015 and 2016, and the Parkin Drawing Prize 2014 and 2016.
